In Hyderabad, the Cyberabad traffic police registered cases against 1241 individuals for drunk driving on New Year’s Eve. These offenders will be presented before the court, and charge sheets will be filed in due course. Additionally, their driving licenses will be confiscated and forwarded to the relevant Regional Transport Authorities (RTAs) for suspension under Section 19 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, stated Cyberabad Commissioner Avinash Mohanty.
A total of 74 teams of traffic police conducted drunk driving tests across Cyberabad. Out of the offenders, 509 individuals had alcohol readings exceeding 100 mg/100 ml of blood, 33 registered more than 300 mg, and 18 recorded readings surpassing 500 mg. The majority of cases were reported in areas such as Miyapur, Kukatpally, Madhapur, Gachibowli, Madhapur, Narsingi, and Jeedimetla.
Despite the extensive enforcement and traffic and road safety measures implemented by Cyberabad traffic police, there were no major road accidents reported in the region. Mohanty expressed gratitude to the citizens for their cooperation in ensuring road safety.
The Cyberabad traffic police will maintain a special focus on combating drunk driving as part of their “Zero Tolerance” policy, aiming to enhance road safety in the region.
