Vijayawada saw a flurry of departures as Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy jetted off to London with his wife Bharati, followed by Opposition leader and TD national president Nara Chandrababu Naidu and his wife Bhuvaneswari heading to the US for medical tests. Naidu’s son and TDP national secretary Nara Lokesh, accompanied by his wife Nara Bhuvaneswari, had already been in the US since May 16.
Naidu is expected to return around May 25 or 26, after which he plans to convene meetings with party members to discuss preparations for the vote count scheduled for June 4.
Meanwhile, APCC chief Y.S. Sharmila also departed for the US to spend time with her son Raja Reddy, joining her mother Y.S. Vijayamma who is already there with Raja Reddy.
With the exception of Naidu, all other leaders are anticipated to return to India in June, prior to the vote count for the Assembly and general elections. This departure from the political whirlwind in the state offers a much-needed respite for leaders who had been deeply involved in campaign activities.
