The G20 nations, in their New Delhi Leaders’ Declaration, unequivocally stated that the “use or threat of use of nuclear weapons is inadmissible” in the context of the Ukraine conflict. The declaration also underscored the need for states to act in accordance with the principles of the UN Charter, emphasizing a comprehensive, just, and lasting peace in Ukraine while urging restraint from the threat or use of force for territorial acquisition.
The declaration reiterated the G20’s role as the premier forum for international economic cooperation, acknowledging that while it primarily focuses on economic matters, geopolitical and security issues can have global economic repercussions. The member countries called for upholding international law, including principles of territorial integrity, sovereignty, and international humanitarian law.
