The BAPS Swaminarayan Akshardham, situated 90 meters south of Times Square in New Jersey, will officially open its doors on October 8. This monumental temple, spanning 183 acres, has been under construction for nearly 12 years and engaged the efforts of more than 12,500 volunteers.
At its zenith, the Mahashikhar is graced with a golden vessel, referred to as the Kalash, symbolizing a sense of completeness and excellence. Above this pinnacle, the Dhaja flag majestically unfurls.
The Swaminarayan Akshardham temple in the United States has been meticulously designed to reflect ancient Indian culture. It boasts an impressive array of over 10,000 statues and intricate carvings depicting Indian musical instruments and dance forms.
The construction of this magnificent temple utilized nearly two million cubic feet of stone, including limestone, granite, pink sandstone, and marble, sourced from various corners of the globe, including India, Turkey, Greece, Italy, and China.
