Congress MP Rahul Gandhi criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday for his “silence” over the alleged irregularities in the NEET-UG 2024 examination. His remarks came after the Supreme Court rebuked the Centre and the National Testing Agency (NTA), insisting that even “0.001 percent negligence” in the exam’s conduct should be thoroughly investigated.
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi, as usual, remains silent on the issue of over 24 lakh students’ futures being jeopardized by the NEET exam scandal. Arrests in Bihar, Gujarat, and Haryana clearly indicate planned and organized corruption in the exam process, with these BJP-ruled states becoming the epicenter of the paper leak,” Gandhi posted on X in Hindi.
“In our manifesto, we promised to safeguard the future of our youth by implementing stringent laws against paper leaks. As the opposition, we are dedicated to vigorously amplifying the voices of the youth across the country, from the streets to Parliament, and pressing the government to adopt these stringent policies,” he added.
The NEET-UG examination, conducted by the NTA, is the gateway for admissions into MBBS, BDS, AYUSH, and other related courses in government and private institutions across India.
Earlier this month, Gandhi criticized Modi over the NEET-UG controversy, asserting that the alleged “irregularities” have devastated more than 24 lakh students even before Modi takes the oath for a new term in office.
Gandhi assured students that he would be their voice in Parliament and vigorously address issues concerning their future.
