BJP State President and Rajamahendravaram MP Daggubati Purandeswari has taken to social media platform X to request that the Election Commission of India (ECI) invite Tesla, Inc. founder and X owner Elon Musk to India to attempt hacking the country’s Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs). Purandeswari noted that, to date, no one has succeeded in hacking the EVMs.
Purandeswari’s statement comes in response to concerns raised by Musk regarding the security of EVMs. “We should eliminate electronic voting machines. The risk of being hacked by humans or AI, while small, is still too high,” Musk had remarked. This prompted former Union Minister for Electronics and Information Technology Rajeev Chandrasekhar to clarify that India’s EVMs are custom-designed and secure.
